Modern electric heating: main advantages and disadvantages

Electric heating is becoming more and more popular as a heating method every year, but, unfortunately, it cannot currently be called the most economical option. So why then is the demand for it constantly increasing? Any type of heating has its pros and cons. The growing demand is explained by more significant advantages for many people.

In recent years, the number of systems, as well as electric heating devices, has increased significantly, but progress has affected not only the number of various electric heating devices, but also their quality. Modern electric heating systems are much more economical, more reliable and safer than a few years ago. If we consider the main methods of installing electric heating, then these should include warm floors, centralized liquid electric heating, electric heaters (fireplaces, infrared heaters, convectors), liquid electric heaters, fan heaters, heating film, etc. Today we will dwell in more detail on electric heaters, analyze their pros and cons.

Recently, a large number of electric heaters of various types have appeared. Electric convectors, infrared heaters, as well as electric fireplaces are gaining popularity. The principle of their operation is well known to everyone, because they are irreplaceable devices in case of accidents in the main heating system. This is how they are used by electrician sacramento: either for additional heating of the room on particularly cold days, or in case of various malfunctions of the main heating source. For complete heating, they are used only in the country, as well as in certain cases when the family budget does not allow for installing a full-fledged heating system. Their main advantage is mobility and versatility, but there is a problem with the economy, because their efficiency is low. Each electric heater has its pros and cons for electric heating.

Liquid electric heaters are a radiator (batteries) inside which there is a liquid. Unlike their “dry” counterparts, liquid electric heaters have a higher coefficient of useful heat transfer and, accordingly, are more economical. They are mobile and versatile, perfect for both main and additional heating. Due to the larger heat transfer surface, the surface temperature of such a heater is lower than that of a “dry” analog, strong convection currents do not arise during its operation, and dust does not rise. To put it simply, a liquid electric heater is a portable battery that runs on electricity.

Having briefly considered the main modern systems and devices of electric heating, the main disadvantages for all of them can be identified as common disadvantages:

– expensive operation, in comparison with gas heating, solid fuel or liquid fuel heating;

– system power limitations. Each house, plot or apartment is designed to use a certain power of electrical appliances, which cannot be exceeded.

Here, however, is everything that limits the use of electric heating, while the advantages can be listed for quite a long time. Advantages of using electric heating:

– low capital costs for acquisition and installation;

– a simple installation that does not require complex documentation, as well as special skills;

– clear operation, accurate support and temperature regulation;

– safety, environmental cleanliness;

– does not require special ventilation and chimney;

– there is no need to find and store fuel;

– silent operation.
